I’ve always wondered what is and what isn’t considered feminine and why doing craft work is predominantly an activity done by women. It is always a shock when people see me knitting or painting or making cards, and as far as I am aware there has never been an rule stating that only women should only do this stuff.
I never see craft workshops ran by men unless they have power tools or using strength to build something. I know there is the men who knit hashtag on Instagram, but it’s not well known. Even when I join certain spaces where there is craft, it’s always adressed as ladies or women and I think that there needs to be a push for men and masculine aligned people to actually get out there and show that paper work, knitting and craft shouldn’t be seen as just a female thing.
What even are female activities? And for that matter what are even male activities?
